Material Investigation
The following projects came about because I wanted to see if I was able to apply my new skills in a metal workshop and knowledge about metal working to create functioning pieces.
Skills: mig welding, cutting and punching metal, cold bending, heat bending using Oxy Acetylene welding torches, angle grinder.
Hanging Holders
I first designed these hanging holders with plant propagation in mind. They became multi-use as I designed the entrance around a glass tube; if the glass tube is removed they are able to hold air plants, candles among other things.
Skills used: mig weld, cold and heat bending, cutting
3 Tier Shelf
This shelf combined two skill sets with its dual materials. I was interested in creating a long lasting piece of furniture by quality materials and building techniques. I wanted to better understand the material at a larger scale compared to the Hanging Holders. The shelf is able to hold many items as the space for items is 1 foot deep, 2 feet wide for the 3 shelves. The shelf is also able to be disassembled easily by removing the screws, nuts and bolts.
